Everything goes in her mouth!

It's Halloween Day and you might expect a great costume picture but since I can't sew we bypassed that endeavor. For the Halloween activities in town we might dress her up a little bit; her store bought costume won't rival any of the costumes my Mother made for Emmie and me. In a nod to the Halloween spirit I did try to put a little bit of orange on her today - thanks to Amanda she has some fabulous orange shoes. You all know by now where they ended up...

My friend Susan and I bought matching dresses for our little girls. Susan's daughter Haley wore hers with jeans and looked so cute. I think that will be the next look we try for Liza. For now she's able to wear it as a dress. I'm sure it will be too short soon!

PS Susan, do you notice the bow you gave me?

Discovery

Liza is curious about everything that goes on around her. If I pick her up when she is in the middle of studying something she will try to squirm out of my arms to get back to her object of interest. She is very intense in her interests so you might guess how she reacts when her beloved object isn't something she should have.

Liza found part of a leaf in the front hall.

Liza playing with the leaf in her hand and checking out Kuma.
Liza is eating the leaf.
Liza is very mad I took the leaf out of her mouth. This is her I'm mad posture - sticking arms and legs straight out.

Her Daddy doesn't know(and won't know until he sees this post)that today is very special because Liza wore her first hair bow! Granted it only stayed in her hair for about a minute but I got a shot of it. She is so cute; I can't wait for her to grow more hair.

Our sweet baby doesn't really have enough hair to put in a bow but can you blame me for trying?

Ready and Waiting

The cold weather is here! Growing up in Knoxville coats, hats and gloves were accessories not necessities as they are in Iowa. Over the course of several years I've come to realize it's not how cute the hat is - it's how well it protects you from the freezing cold. I have to confess that I'm still a bit vain about wearing hats and my temperature trigger for finally putting one on is much lower than most of my friends and colleagues. I can't let Liza make my bad habits hers so I'm trying to teach her early that you feel warm and cozy with a hat on your head! So far she's not a big fan of hats (sorry Auntie Em) and instantly reaches to pull them off her head.

Mom could you please speed it up, I'm ready to go to Rita's? You should really be putting up that laundry not snapping pictures!

I am coming to get that camera so we can go - enough with the photo shoot!

Okay...I'll give you a smile...don't miss the shot Mom!

I'm not so fond of this hood.

Don't tell Daddy...

...But I love the lens cap for his camera!

He surely can't get mad at me because I'm so cute in my new outfit.

One day Mommy I promise I'll smile for a picture and take the paci out.

Standing with assistance

Our sweet little girl can pull herself up on just about anything. This morning I let her explore the bathroom while I was drying my hair and my heart skipped a few beats each time she was wobbly because I didn't want her fall on tile floor.

This picture is in the living room as she stands and plays with the tripod toy. She loves to punch the buttons to hear the noises and see the lights. (Judy do you see the lamp in the background?)

After standing for a little while Liza starts to get tired and begins to "rest" on her toy. She has also found her fingers and alternates which she puts in her mouth. Chris and I both believe we witnessed Liza trying to lay her head down on the toy to go to sleep. She likes it so much!

Even though the picture is blurry I had to put it up here because we actually got a smile on camera! She's on her way down but still smiling.

Now's she stuck between the toy and the chair and can't figure out how to get out. She's frustrated and let me know that she'd rather I help her than take her picture.

Liza's on the move

Liza figured it out and is a crawling machine! She goes wherever she wants to and we are frantically working to baby proof everything. Chris kept asking Liza to give him a 2 week notice so he'd have time to prepare...well...no two week notice so we best get with it. Apparently Liza is taken with the video camera so you'll get to see her attack it in this short clip. She managed to fog it up but we promise the sheen goes away. I'm sure you'll see some things in the background of this video that need to be put away - don't worry - we're taking care of it.

Enjoy!

Liza and Mary Katherine in Indiana

Chris and Liza were in Indiana over the weekend celebrating with family at Maggie and Nathan's big event. I was unable to go because of a big shindig for work but it was fun to hear all about it last night when they got home. Chris did an amazing job with Liza and as far as I'm concerned he's super Dad! I am thankful every day for all that he does for our family. He wasn't able to snap a lot of pictures while he was gone but the one below is of Liza and her first cousin Mary Katherine. In this picture, Liza is 8 months and one week and Mary Katherine is 5 1/2 months. I wonder if Chris thinks the open shirt look is in?

One of the best pictures Chris did get was of Liza's sweet smile. She giggles and laughs all the time, just not in front of the camera, so it's great that Chris captured this shot. Nieka, if you are reading this I hope you see the great shoes you gave her!
