Liza at 13 weeks

It's hard to believe that Liza is 13 weeks old; she is growing so quickly. Since Liza was born, developing, learning, having fun and letting us know what she needs are some of the things she's accomplished. Her daddy improved his photography skills and I still haven't gone back to cooking dinner on a regular basis. Seems like I need to get my act in gear and make some improvements! I hope I've improved my tolerance for deviation from routine but those closest and dearest to me tell me they're not so sure. I certainly don't want to give Liza a job, but if she teaches me to be comfortable with flexibility, the unanticipated and that happiness can happen amidst chaos then she's helped me be a much better person.

Liza's cousin has arrived! Welcome Mary Katherine!

Meg and I are the proud aunt and uncle of a very precious baby girl. She made her arrival into this world at 1:04 am this morning. The sweet baby weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces and is 21 inches long. We can't wait to see more pictures, talk to the proud Mommy and Daddy and send our hugs and kisses over the phone. Way to go Suzanne and Stan!!

Diaper Cakes and Rice Cereal

As you might imagine...something "new" comes out that might help in Liza's development and we're off to get it! The Bumbo seat below is the latest must-have. The seat is intended for children who can sit up on their own but since we think Liza is advanced we decided to try it out. She sort of likes it - we're going to keep working on it, who knows, it this might be her favorite place to be.

My office is filled with kind people and they shared that kindness by having a baby holding party for the three of us who recently had children. Each child was given his/her own diaper cake - aren't they cute? Liza's is the pink one on the end; I greatly appreciate all the effort my colleagues put into the details of the party; you are some of my favorite people on earth and we feel grateful to know you. THANKS!

This will come as no surprise...our child needs rice cereal before her time! Recently Liza maxed out on the amount of formula she can have in a day so we had to turn to rice cereal. Our instincts told us to give it to her last weekend but our inexperience kicked in and we waited until we spoke with the doctor's office on Monday. I'm sure they wonder how in the world two educated adults can't figure out FEED THE CHILD WHEN SHE IS HUNGRY. The video below is our first attempt at eating from a spoon.
