She's so cute!

It's funny, all those things I said I'd never do when I became a Mom I'm now doing. I swore I wouldn't be one of those moms that talked about how cute her children are - well guess what - I'm doing it now. They just don't come much cuter than Little Liza Lou. Our neighbor recently opened a wine bar and we took these pictures on our front porch before heading out for the opening of the Ladora Bank Bistro. You might be wondering...what...they took Liza to a wine bar???? Don't worry the place is family friendly and we were very well behaved.

When Auntie Em came to take care of Liza for a week she made up a very secretive song that only she and Liza know. She also gave Liza the toy you can see a little bit of in the picture below. Liza likes the toy so much that we had to buy a duplicate of it in case the original is misplaced (which has already happened once).

For the most part all of our good quality pictures of the baby girl have been taken by Chris with his fancy camera and fancy flash. The picture below is from my camera phone and it is so cute I just had to share. We had just come back from a walk in her stroller and she was playing with her blanket. The hat is one the Jesseph family sent us and she wears it all the time - thank you!

We are so lucky!

We are so blessed to have Liza and I am so thankful for all of you who have been so kind and supportive of our family. I'm absolutely astonished by the generosity we've been shown. This is a picture of Liza swinging (sort of) on her first swing set. The Thompsons live across the alley and we've enjoyed watching their children grow - Matt is fun to be around because he's so curious and even built a teepee in our back yard and Jordan is a joy to watch on stage during dance recitals - they gave us their swing set. It's not a run of the mill swing set; this one took 4 men to move in several pieces. We were so excited we couldn't wait for her to try it out so we got an infant seat attachment. I bundled her up and we took her out. She enjoyed it so much she went right to sleep. Now swinging is a daily event in our lives - Liza swings, Chris weeds, I watch Liza and tell Chris where to weed more! We're just one big happy family - thank you Thompson family!

Happy Mother's Day Mommy!

Happy Mother's Day Mommy! I wanted to write you a poem, but since I don't know any words yet, I had to borrow one. It is the thought that counts, right?

I’m happy you’re my mom,
‘Cause you take good care of me.
You love me and you show it,
So I’m as happy as can be!

I love you very much,
And so I want to say,
Thank you for all you do,
And Happy Mother’s Day!

I borrowed one for Daddy also.

On Mother’s day, I want to wish
Happy Mother’s Day to my wonderful wife;
My friend, my love, a terrific mom,
You’re bring so much happiness into my life.
You’re everything to this family;
I appreciate you, and I want to say,
The day we met, I was truly blessed.
Happy, Happy Mother’s Day!
Daddy and I love you very much!

A Day in the Life of Liza

Unfortunately all the video could not be uploaded at one time, so we split it into two videos. We take footage of just about everything Liza does and we didn't know exactly what to do with all of it. So...her Daddy spent day and night making a wonderful video that is based on an average day in the life of our little girl!

Liza at 13 weeks

It's hard to believe that Liza is 13 weeks old; she is growing so quickly. Since Liza was born, developing, learning, having fun and letting us know what she needs are some of the things she's accomplished. Her daddy improved his photography skills and I still haven't gone back to cooking dinner on a regular basis. Seems like I need to get my act in gear and make some improvements! I hope I've improved my tolerance for deviation from routine but those closest and dearest to me tell me they're not so sure. I certainly don't want to give Liza a job, but if she teaches me to be comfortable with flexibility, the unanticipated and that happiness can happen amidst chaos then she's helped me be a much better person.

Liza's cousin has arrived! Welcome Mary Katherine!

Meg and I are the proud aunt and uncle of a very precious baby girl. She made her arrival into this world at 1:04 am this morning. The sweet baby weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces and is 21 inches long. We can't wait to see more pictures, talk to the proud Mommy and Daddy and send our hugs and kisses over the phone. Way to go Suzanne and Stan!!
