Fun in COSTCO

When we got to COSTCO Saturday afternoon I couldn't figure out why Liza kept trying to stretch out in the cart. Then the light bulb went off - oh yeah - it's nap time! We had to go back to the car for her diaper bag and while on that trip Bair found a few blankets to make her more comfortable!

Don't for a single minute think she actually slept! She just had lots of fun playing around. I think the tzatziki and gogurt were getting in her way.

Our of my friend's who has a little boy Liza's age made this cute hat so we had to show it off this morning on our way to Rita's. Thanks Becky!

Feeling Better

After several high temperature days without much food or drink I think it's safe to say our little one is feeling much better. Thanks for the calls, emails and comments on Facebook!

Night Eyes at the zoo!

It might seem strange to you that our pictures from Night Eyes are during day light hours - but Liza is sleeping during their night hours and we thought it might be a little too scary for her! It was an definitely an experience. The commercials for the event mentioned Halloween costumes so we grabbed one of Liza's Halloween dresses on the way out the door. Night Eyes wasn't our only activity in Des Moines so a full blown costume was out. Well thank goodness Liza doesn't know any better because people were decked out in costume; including some parents. We just slipped her dress on over her clothes and called it good. Next year we might have to step it up a little so Liza doesn't feel out of place!

Liza and Bair walked through the maze of hay together and fortunately she didn't show any interest in the free-for-all corn pit at the end!

Since Daddy took her through the maze I was tasked with being ready to get her out of the inflatable kid structure! Didn't prove to be much of a problem because she really wasn't that interested in jumping around! I couldn't talk her into climbing into the rescue boat. Where she is standing in this picture is the extent of how far into the play area she went. The entrance is about three feet to her right (you can see part of the entrance wall in back of photo)!

There was a display of pumpkins arranged for picture taking. Liza was more fascinated with seeing if she could sit on the pumpkins than staying put on the hay bales.

Colors, Reading and Popa!

Liza is just starting to enjoy coloring and we are trying to help her learn her colors. From this video you might guess that her favorite color is blue!

Liza is a big fan of books and in this video she is reading to me. She especially likes saying whooping crane! In case you can't tell she is reading Polar Bear Polar Bear What do you Hear?

Liza's popa, my Daddy, is having surgery today so Liza is sending him a very special Love You message.

Picking out Pumpkins

Grandma Bair came for a weekend visit and on Sunday we went to get a few pumpkins. Unfortunately, it was colder than it looked and at the pumpkin patch Liza had tears in her eyes from the wind.

Before we left Grinnell we tried to get a few pictures in the yard.

Liza was standing there not smiling and would run towards the camera so we weren't getting many pictures. I started jumping up and down to get her attention and she laughed so hard.

Then she decided to jump up and down too.

We took off Liza's coat to try and get some pictures as she studied the pumpkins. It was just too cold so we let her touch a few, jump in the wagon...

...and head back to the car

Happy Early Halloween

Today is the 13th anniversary of our first date! Thankfully Bair still makes me laugh all the time, he hasn't stopped cycling through hobbies and he's the best Daddy (next to mine) to our precious little girl. Liza and I love you so very much!!!

It won't surprise too many of you that I think Liza is the cutest thing in the world. Normally for a day at Rita's I dress her in play clothes because they have a great time and play hard. Since they likely aren't going outside today due to the cold weather I couldn't resist dressing her up a little bit. (To hedge my bets I also sent along tennis shoes and a play outfit.)

Our family really likes fall and especially October, since that's when Team Bair began, so we celebrate all month long! Don't be surprised if a few more Halloween outfits make their way to this blog. I wasn't sure if Liza knew what pumpkins were and I when I showed her this dress she said Halloween! Guess she knew more than I thought. She liked kneeling so her dress would touch the ground...can't really explain that one...

Liza insisted on finding her camera so she could take pretend pictures, you'll see it in her hands. In this picture she is shouting CHEESE.

Random Videos

Liza is such a hoot and she makes us laugh all the time. I don't know if you'll enjoy the videos as much as we do but we thought it was worth a shot. This video is of Liza "reading" the Noah book all by herself. Her favorite part is telling the animals night-night when she gets to last page.

Liza likes to sing Rock-a-bye Baby however she gets a little agitated if you don't substitute Dolly for Baby.

I'm sure I should have edited these to cut down on length but I didn't so fast forward or watch a few seconds whatever works best for you. In this video Liza would really like for Dolly to go to sleep. After this video was taken we attacked the box of hangers in her closet and order has been restored!

I left this video off the original post because I thought 3 was enough but what the heck...here you go!
